17) Country Love

OMFG, I couldn't resist sharing this travesty. Funny because I have never been able to sit through the entire thing without...well...shutting the damn thing off. I am neither a fan of late 70's country music or Mike Love's nasal vocals so it is just a really bad affair for me. I will be returning to more quality material next.

16) March 14th, 1978 - Perth

The famous concert where Carl (and probably Brian & Dennis) is totally wasted on alcohol and/or heroin. Sound is very good audience. De masajes por favor mi nalgas. Mexico invades the Salvation Army! Turnips! Buttocks!

11) Thank God For Wonderful

In 2004, I got very bored with everybody's SMiLE mixes so I decided to do my own mix of post-SMiLE music. It took me about five days mostly using Adobe Audition and Sonic Sound Forge. I just rediscovered it a couple of days ago and finally decided to share it. This is FLAC so it's kind of big but if I get enough requests I might make an MP3 version of it.

01) Wonderful (2:21)
02) Wind Chimes (4:35)
03) Vegetables (2:20)
04) She's Goin' Bald (2:35)
05) Gettin' Hungry (:56)

07) Cool Water (11:09)
08) Wild Honey (2:45)

10) Here Comes The Night (3:50)

12) The Letter (1:51)
13) Darlin' (2:47)

10) 1972/03/?? NYSU or St. John's University?

This has been available for a long time noted as being St. John's University in Jamaica, NY dated 1972/03/08. However in Keith Badman's book, their tour didn't start until March 16th in Albany, NY. The set list for that show perfectly matches the contents of this recording so I have been using that date and venue since. To make it more confusing, read this. Incidentally, Badman's book has them taking the day off on the 25th and never setting foot in St. John's University. Who do we believe?

Anyway, fantastic performance and very decent audience recording from that era. During "Wonderbill" Carl stops the performance to tell off some people who were fighting in the audience and threatens to stop the show (Mike talks some shit too!).

Setlist:
01) Wouldn't It Be Nice
02) Long Promised Road
03) Sloop John B
04) Take A Load Off Your Feet
05) Cool Cool Water
06) Disney Girls (1957)
07) Do It Again
08) Heroes And Villains
09) Wild Honey
10) Surfin' USA
11) Surf's Up
12) Let The Wind Blow
13) Darlin'
14) Wonderbill
15) God Only Knows
16) Help Me Rhonda
17) Student Demonstration Time
18) Good Vibrations
19) California Girls
20) Surfer Girl
21) I Get Around

Interesting to also note that this line-up still has Bruce but also has Blondie and Ricky.

09) 1972/08/23 Boston Commons

This show is legendary. Backed with an orchestra on the 2nd set, this may be the only live rendition of Dennis Wilson's "Cuddle Up" that I am familiar with.

Some positives:
- The band is in the peak of their live power with their greatest line-up ever!
- Many songs that were later dropped from their live set!

Some negatives:
- Audience recording, although not too bad for the era but the taper's batteries ran out during the second set (during "Cuddle Up") so the speed starts getting sort of "whacked".
- The audience is totally unappreciative and disrespectful to the point of constantly heckling the band. Very depressing.

Yet, I love this document. This is history and is mostly fun to listen to. There is no evidence to support that this show was ever recorded professionally.

Some info HERE and HERE.

06) Let's Take A Trip Down Hawthorne Blvd

I've been looking for my old BB concerts and I found this oddity (unfortunately I only have it in MP3 format). This was the second concert recorded in Hawaii on August 26th, 1967. The concert from the day before (25th) is much more common.

No info from Bootlegzone on this one, I got it from a bit torrent site sometime last summer or something like that. More soundboard and more FLAC.
